WHAT: 13th annual Snowflake Swim
WHEN: 11 a.m. Feb. 13
WHERE: Union Lake in Millville
DETAILS: Hosted by the Millville Recreation Department along with Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home and Millville Chiropractic, participants will plunge into the bone-chilling water of Union Lake. Participants must be 10 or older, and accompanied by an adult if younger than 18. Anyone in good health is invited to participate. Advance registration is requested. Registration forms are available at the Recreation Department, 416 S. 15th St.
ADMISSION: $10 registration fee for participants; free for spectators. Rocap Shannon and Millville Chiropractic donated $300, which will be used for a scholarship for a member of the Millville High School swim team who is most improved during their season. All additional funds raised will be donated to the 2016 Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk to benefit breast cancer research, awareness and outreach.

WHAT: Bright Star Touring Theatre’s African Folktales and Jackie Robinson

DETAILS: Bright Star Touring Theatre will present “African Folktales,” which brings to life the vastness of the African landscape and a variety of clever animals. Join Akili as she shares these exciting tales that were traditionally passed down by word of mouth. With imaginative costumes and lots of audience participation, this production also includes valuable character-education themes.
Bright Star Touring Theatre will also present “Jackie Robinson,” an interactive production in which Jackie Robinson takes the stage and goes to bat for equal rights and the integration of professional sports. At a time when segregation was the law, Jackie Robinson was an American hero and an icon of America's favorite past time who stood up for what he knew to be right.
Recommended for children in preschool through fifth grade.
