BRIDGETON - A man accused of killing another outside a downtown bar last spring was indicted by a Cumberland County Grand Jury Wednesday on charges of murder.

Quamere Redding, of Elmer Street, was indicted in Superior Court on six counts, including murder in the first degree, as well as aggravated assault and various weapons charges.

He is accused of killing 24-year-old Earikeem Lewis outside the Las Palmas Tequilla Bar in the early morning hours of April 12.

Redding had a .380-caliber semi-automatic Bersa handgun which he is said to have used in Lewis’ killing.

He’s also accused of a possession of a weapon for unlawful purchase charge of attempting to use the firearm against another person, named Adrian McGriff.

Redding also was shot during an eruption of gunfire outside the bar, according to officials.

Bridgeton police said at the time that Redding and the victim had been involved in an altercation inside the bar that spilled into the street.

Residents told police they saw a large group of people yelling and arguing, followed by gun shots and two cars fleeing the scene.

Police were pursuing two speeding vehicles in the area when the shooting reports came in, and they turned out to be headed for Inspira Health Center Bridgeton, each with one of the two men inside.

Redding is currently lodged in a New Jersey state prison on $1 million bail.
