VINELAND - Days of coffee and carryout are coming to an end for customers of Wawa on the corner of Wheat and Main roads.

“We are sorry to announce that our Wheat Road, Vineland store will close on June 2,” said Wawa spokeswoman Lori Bruce. “For almost 30 years, it’s been our pleasure to serve this community and we are truly grateful for the support we've received.”

The Wheat Road location is an older, let’s say more vintage, store located between Wawa superstores on Harding Highway in Buena and South Main Road in Vineland.

Origins of Wawa can be found in South Jersey

“While this was a difficult decision to make, we have conducted careful and extensive evaluation and determined that this store simply cannot deliver the experience our customers deserve,” Bruce said. “On occasion, we find ourselves having to make decisions like this throughout our six-state operating area – they are never easy.”

No store associates will lose their jobs due to this closure. The staff will be transferred to other Wawa locations.

“All of our associates will be at nearby stores looking to serve and connect with their friends and neighbors,” Bruce said.

Those who stop by the store on June 1 — the last day of operation — will be offered free coffee as a token of appreciation.

“And while the realities of our business in 2016 no longer support this location, we hope to continue to serve the residents at our other Vineland locations, offering the level of service that will meet our core purpose, to fulfill customers’ lives, every day,” she said.
