VINELAND – A thief, who found an unoccupied vehicle running outside a gas station, took the sport utility to go, according to police.

Police responded to the Citgo in the 900 block of East Chestnut Avenue on Wednesday evening for reports of a stolen vehicle.

Cumberland County’s most wanted

The owner told investigators while he went into the gas station, he left his 2013 Chevrolet Captiva parked and running in front of the store.

When he heard someone yell, the SUV owner told police he saw a man in the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

The vehicle, valued at $17,500, was last seen headed east on Chestnut Avenue, police reported on the weekend.

The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s with orange dreadlocks.

The SUV is light blue with N.J. registration E87-FBA.
