Buena Vista Township bank robbed

BUENA VISTA - An armed robber held up the BB&T bank branch at Landis Avenue and Union Road, according to state police.

The suspect, believed to be armed with a handgun, robbed the bank branch on the border of Cumberland and Atlantic counties about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Investigators described the suspect as a black male who is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, dressed all in black and wearing a black ski mask.

No injuries were reported, according to state troopers.

N.J. State Police responded to the BB&T bank branch at Landis Avenue and Union Road Saturday afternoon.

State troopers and Vineland police officers swarmed the area searching for the suspect.

No other information was available.

It was the second bank robbery reported in the greater Cumberland County area within a week — both along Landis Avenue.

On Monday, Vineland police responded to a holdup at the Sun National Bank branch at Landis Avenue and Main Road about 10:15 a.m.

During that incident, a robber jumped the counter, demanded cash from a teller and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Vineland police. The suspect did not appear to be armed, police said. No customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery and no one was reported injured.

No arrest was reported in that robbery.
