BRIDGETON - The man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her infant daughter last fall has been indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury.

Ricardo Carrillo-Santiago, 34, of the 700 block of Yellowwood Terrace in Millville, was indicted Wednesday on three counts related to two homicides on Nov. 27.

It was on that day authorities say Carrillo-Santiago killed 34-year-old Vineland resident Neidy Ramirez and her 3-month-old daughter Genesis.

Carrillo-Santiago faces two counts of first-degree murder for each alleged homicide; and also is charged with the moving of their remains, a second-degree charge, according to the indictment.

According to records, Ramirez and Carrillo-Santiago were parents of a 5-year-old, but he was not the father of Genesis.

Authorities previously have indicated Ramirez was strangled, while Genesis’s chest was crushed.

Their bodies were found Dec. 1, dumped in marshes near the Cohansey River in Fairton.

A week before the two died, a court order barring Carrillo-Santiago from contacting Ramirez without a judge’s approval had expired.

The May 2015 order was issued as a condition of the court dismissing a harassment charge against her ex-boyfriend.

Carrillo-Santiago previously was arrested in winter 2015, having been charged with terroristic threats. In court records, the original charge is listed as “threat to kill.”

Ramirez would have been about four months pregnant at the time.

Carrillo-Santiago remains in Cumberland County Jail on $1 million bail, Tdown from the initial $2 million set after his jail commitment in December. County records show another bail reduction request was denied in August.

Carrillo-Santiago was born in Mexico, according to public records.

An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Oct. 11 before Judge Cristen P. D’Arrigo.
