MAURICE RIVER – An inmate at Southern State Correctional Facility was flown Saturday morning to an Atlantic City hospital as a precaution following a fight with another inmate earlier in the day, according to the N.J. Department of Corrections.

NJDOC spokesman Matt Shuman on Sunday said the fight took place shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday. About an hour later, one of the inmates began exhibiting symptoms that concerned medical staff and he was flown to a hospital. The inmate, who was not identified, returned to the prison later in the day.
