VINELAND – An armed robber held up a center city convenience store Wednesday and fled with an undetermined amount of cash and merchandise, according to detectives.

Police responded to Family Dollar in the first block of West Landis Avenue for reports of a holdup at about 8:45 p.m.

The suspect, apparently armed with a black handgun, fled the scene with cash and cigarettes, police said. No injuries were reported.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect, who was wearing a dark Nike hooded sweatshirt, gloves, sunglasses and a bandanna over his face.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 200 pounds, police said.

This is the third robbery in little over a month reported at this store.

On Jan. 19, two male suspects, with their faces obscured by bandannas, robbed employees at gunpoint and ran out the rear door with a undisclosed amount of cash from the register. Detectives said they are not linking this case to the most recent robbery at this time.

A week prior, a man armed with a knife, fled the store after grabbing $145 from the cash register. The suspect, identified by police as Steven Caraballo, 30, of the 500 block of Oak Road, was apprehended a short time later, a short distance from the scene.

He was charged with robbery, two weapons offenses and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (856) 691-4111. Detective Greg Pacitto is the investigating officer.
