CCTEC Model Congress team 'legislates'

Cumberland County Technical Education Center’s Model Congress team recently participated in a two-day, student led government simulation at Rider University.

LAWRENCEVILLE - Cumberland County Technical Education Center’s Model Congress team recently participated in a two-day, student led government simulation at Rider University. The team members honed their public speaking and critical thinking skills while working with other New Jersey students to debate legislation that they had written and researched throughout the school year.

Two CCTEC bills were debated in the Overall Senate session, a citizenship bill, sponsored by sophomores Tiara Morales and Yaeline Rodriguez, and an anti-tobacco bill, authored by sophomore Nickolas Casalinuovo. Also, Casalinuovo, was voted “Outstanding Delegate” for his committee work. Also, five student bills were voted to advance through the various committees.

Student participants were: Nicholas Blauth, Nyleah Brown, Nickolas Casalinuovo, Anne Marie Dominique, ​Juliana Espinoza, Brandon Hernandez​, Teresa Klugewicz, Elizabeth Lascarez​, Isaiah Lugo​, Millie Martinez-Sosa​, Tiara Morales, Haleigh Purich​, Melissa Rodgers ​and Yaeline Rodriguez.
